Cousins and Marine Wives/Fiances

My cousin Kassi, married to Matt who's a Marine, brought me to this site corpswives.com, for marine wives, fiances, and girlfriends. I LOVE this place and spend most of my extra time on there, or connected on my phone's internet when I'm bored at work.

Kassi was in town this past week visiting family from Houston and came to Arlington to see me too! We had already planned to get together with some of the other ladies while she was here; a few I had met about a month ago at the Trace Adkins free concert at the base. So, she had yet to meet these ladies. We set up lunch for last week and headed to Abuelo's. Along with Wimberley, Justine, and Katie. Wimberley's fiance is currently deployed, set to come home in about 2 weeks. Justine's hubby is in Japan for, I think, the next 6-7 months. She's staying in Mansfield with her parents. Katie's boyfriend is in California at language school and finds out soon where he will be stationed. We definitely all bring something different to the table ; )

Kassi is a picture taking freak, lol, but in a good way. She snapped one of me and my Presley, and it came out so cute!

Here's me, Kassi, Justine, and Katie, with Wimberley taking the picture.

Not like Eloy has done much with the Corps, but this group of women are amazing. No one like themselves knows what the Corps is like. Such as now...Eloy leaves Sunday for AT in California for 2 weeks (BOO!) But, that 2 weeks is a drop in the bucket compared to what others experience. Eloy tried to go to range school in July, for 6-8 weeks, and would put him home Sept 5th. uhmm, HELLO!? My due date is Sept 11th, you're not going ANYWHERE! So, that was rescheduled. But, the Marines do that. They take you from your life and expect you to deal. Which you do, but these ladies know firsthand what it's like. Yes, friends and family can only be so supportive, especially if they've never known someone or experienced it firsthand. I'm brand new at this active duty lifestyle, so I really appreciate all their advice and stories they tell.

I don't have fake friends anymore!!

Memorial Weekend

We had a pretty busy Memorial weekend. Saturday morning our friends, Kim and William, aka Bailey, were set to get "married." They were already married in a JOP, but wanted to wait til their 1st anniversary for a ceremonial wedding. The officiant was the mayor of Cedar Hill and he was amazing! It was at her parents house, in their humongous backyard. It had rained alll that morning, so they got very lucky it was still able to be held outside.

After the wedding, we headed to go pick up my mom and go to their lake house. We stayed through Monday and came home that afternoon. It rained a little bit, but we actually got to enjoy our "vacation". We fished mostly, and ate too! Dad caught a lot of fish, as usual, and mom caught her fair share of lil baby bass off minnows. I'd rather fish with (fake) worms, but only so many people casting rods in a boat works. I ended up catching my biggest fish ever! It was a 2.4 lb bass, I was excited!

All in all, we had a great weekend. Lots of time to actually relax...and then we had to come home and clean, BOO!!
